4 new manufacturers will have access to Supercharger terminals, here are which ones

Tesla has just discreetly announced the addition of 4 automobile manufacturers whose electric cars will be able to charge at Supercharger terminals. These are in addition to Ford which officially adopted the NACS charger on its vehicles a few weeks ago. Tesla indicates that the network will be open to them during the spring of 2024, without giving a precise date for the moment.

It is now a fact, the entire automotive industry is scrambling to adopt Tesla’s NACS universal charger on its electric cars. First Ford, then General Motors, a whole wave of manufacturers signed one by one the famous partnership with the boss of the industry. To date, we know in particular that Volkswagen, Mercedes and even Nissan are now waiting their turn. And it’s not going to stop any time soon. On its official website, Tesla has just added 4 new names of future partners on the NACS network.

Or rather, things have finally become official for them. Here are the manufacturers now displayed on the Tesla website:

  • Rivian
  • General Motors
  • Volvo
  • Polestar

Unsurprisingly, we therefore find General Motors, which was quick to sign its partnership with Tesla after Ford. The two companies were initially scheduled to enter the network in February. Also, General Motors is expected to make its official announcement within a few days. Moreover, Tesla indicates for its part that all the new ones listed will be able to access its Superchargers by spring 2024, without further details.

We also already knew that Volvo and Polestar were in the running for adoption of the NACS charger, but we didn’t yet know when it would be available. It is now done. It’s a safe bet that the year 2024 will end with other big names in the automotive industry having joined the list. In any case, as our colleagues at electrek point out, we cannot prevent Tesla from respecting its commitment to bring electric technology for all to the market through these partnerships.
