4 sci-fi series to watch after The Three-Body Problem on Netflix

The long-awaited science fiction series has finally arrived on Netflix, but have you already devoured its 8 episodes? Here are 4 similar series to watch in streaming: The Signal, Dark, The OA as well as The Time Travelers (Travelers).

We thought Liu Cixin’s novel was unadaptable for the screen, but Netflix did it: The 3-Body Problem is finally available on the streaming platform. Created by David Benioff and DB Weiss (Game Of Thrones) as well as Alexander Woo (The Terror), the SF series fulfills all our hopes by offering us a monumental story.

But what other mystery fictions can you watch on Netflix, after devouring the 8 episodes of this excellent production?

Time Travelers on Netflix, for the love of science

In The 3-Body Problem, science plays a major role in the destiny of the world. If you liked this rather dark aspect in the Netflix adaptation of Liu Cixin’s novel, then the series Time Travelers (Or Travelers), also available on the platform, should intrigue you.

We discover the future, while five temporal visitors are sent to our time, to save humanity from certain destruction. To survive in the past, they carry out a “transfer of consciousness”, allowing them to slip into the shoes of strangers such as an FBI agent, a junkie or a high school athlete.

With a mission with universal issues and characters forced to lead a double life, Time Travelers mixes big sci-fi concepts with much more intimate stories.

We love following this band of agents from the future, whose destiny unfortunately had to end after only 3 seasons. Despite everything, the series, created by Brad Wright (Stargate SG-1), has a satisfying ending, so you have no excuse not to follow these exciting time paradoxes.

The Signal on Netflix, for contact with the unknown

That’s it, the big day has arrived: astronaut Paula is back with her family, after months of traveling to the stars. But after landing on Earth, the plane that takes her home suddenly disappears from radar, leaving her husband, Sven, as well as their deaf daughter, Charlie, in search of answers… Drawing on both science fiction and more intimate, but also in the tragic story of flight MH 370, still unresolved, The Signal manages to develop multiple mysteries with sensitivity and intelligence.

As The 3-Body Problem, the series touches our hearts in just 4 episodes. Unfortunately, the plot does not really renew the genre, the fault of some slightly predictable revelations. But sometimes, it also feels good to let yourself be drawn into a simple story, but one so well done that you ask for more.

Dark on Netflix, for brain-twisting puzzles

The 3-Body Problem presents us with a story, dense, complex, of which we sometimes struggle to understand all the issues. But good news: this cerebral viewing constitutes excellent training to prepare you for Darkone of the most stunning series in the Netflix catalog.

This three-season German series first catches us with a worrying disappearance of a child, before never letting go, with lots of twists and puzzles perfect for settling a headache.

Little tip: we highly recommend diving into the unknown with Dark, by not reading anything on the subject before starting the first episode. A true television experience, this creation by the duo formed by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese (1899) mixes fantastic elements, shaking family trajectories and excellent casting. A time journey from which you will clearly not emerge unscathed, we guarantee that.

The O.A. on Netflix, for the visual experience

You feel like you’ve experienced something unique while watching The 3-Body Problem ? Then you should love it The O.A., the unclassifiable nugget from Netflix. Be careful though: the narrative of the series will clearly not please everyone. But if your poetic mind remains open, we strongly advise you to discover the story of Prairie Johnson, a young blind girl who disappeared seven years earlier.

When she suddenly returns, she has regained her sight and suddenly throws herself off a bridge. What happened ? Only five strangers will have the privilege of discovering his story.

The O.A. is one of those serial UFOs that is confusing from start to finish, while quite simply questioning the meaning of life. Between Twin Peaks, Stranger Things Or The Leftoversthe two seasons are difficult to pin down, but clearly constitute a major work of television, which takes an unexpected turn every minute of every episode.

The only (major) downside: the series was unfairly canceled, with a partly unsolved mystery. Damage.
