4 series to watch after Griselda on Netflix

Griselda chronicles the rise and then fall of an influential drug trafficker, played by Sofía Vergara. There will be no season 2. So, once these six episodes are finished, here are four other series in the same tone to watch on Netflix.

Adapted from a true story, even if it doesn’t tell the whole story, the mini-series Griselda is the Netflix phenomenon of the end of January 2024. After the story of this famous drug trafficker and Colombian “black widow”, what to watch on the streaming platform?

The Boy and the Universe

The Boy and the Universe was also one of the surprises of the start of 2024. Adapted from a book, it is a story “ semi-autobiographical », in the words of the author himself. There is again the question of drug trafficking and crime, but this time, on the scale of a child. Young Eli actually evolves in a complicated context, between his mother under the influence of narcotics and his drug-dealing stepfather. Not to mention his babysitter, a former prisoner and his mentor, with whom he communicates by telephone, who is in prison. Added to this is a mute brother, who only communicates with his hands.

Between family drama and detective story, The Boy and the Universe touched a lot of people: the series is still among the most watched series, at the moment, on Netflix.

Narcos and its spin-off Narcos: Mexico

Worn by Wagner Moura, Paulina Gaitan and Pedro Pascal, Narcos is high among the cult series. It is managed by the same team as Griselda. Over three seasons of ten episodes, it tells the story of the rise of a gang of drug traffickers – the Medellín cartel. We find in particular the famous Pablo Escobar, but the series multiplies the points of view.

With Diego Luna (Andor), this also spans three seasons of 10 episodes to tell the story of the rise of the Guadalajara cartel in Mexico.

Queen of the South

Teresa (Alice Braga) did not choose to work for a cartel. But she finds herself fleeing Mexico to take refuge in the United States, precisely after the assassination of her boyfriend who worked for a cartel. Once on American soil, to survive and accomplish her revenge, she finds herself forced to work for the cartel in question. Queen of the South is a series renowned for meeting the criteria of action and suspense, all in the violent world of drug traffickers. And with 62 episodes over five seasons, you will have enough to occupy many evenings.

breaking Bad

This is almost obvious as breaking Bad is known, but it is also one of the series that we hear about without ever having watched them. And for fans, you can also organize a little marathon to see it again. No cartel here, but chemistry professor Walter White who finds himself manufacturing a synthetic drug, crystal meth. Jesse, one of his former students who has become a small-time drug dealer, comes to his aid. An improbable duo, which won 19 prizes for this series.
