4:0 home win against Servette – Lucerne at least in the barrage and only 3 points behind GC – Sport

Ten minutes before the end, when Lucerne was able to play 2-0 behind and one man more, the audience in the swissporarena gave a standing ovation. The FCL fans appreciated such a dedicated performance by their favorites.

The home team was infected by this support and in the middle of this euphoria put the lid on the game against an unpleasant Servette. After a nice combination, Ibrahima Ndiaye completed the 3-0 (82nd). That was too much for Geneva, who now gave up completely and even conceded the 0:4 (Nikola Cumic/86.).

Thanks to this success, Lucerne has nothing to do with direct relegation and is at least in the barrage. The gap to eighth-placed GC, which lost 1-0 to Sion, is only 3 points.

Imeri casts magic, Sorgic hits

In a long, uneventful 1st half, Asumah Abubakar put Lucerne ahead in the 38th minute. He benefited from the fact that Servette’s Moussa Diallo canceled the offside. After the change of sides, it was first Geneva international Kastriot Imeri who provided entertainment. The magic foot first put a free kick on the crossbar and a short time later forced FCL goalie Marius Müller to make a save with a corner kick.

But the next goal fell on the other side. After a counterattack, Abubakar pushed through to Dejan Sorgic, who defeated Jérémy Frick to make it 2-0. After that, not much came from Geneva, who conceded their 4th defeat in a row. Only Imeri caused a stir, who saw yellow cards twice within 60 seconds and gave Lucerne a 20-minute majority.

This is how it goes

Both Lucerne and Servette are back in action on Wednesday. The FCL makes a guest appearance at FC Sion. The Genevans welcome FC Lugano at their home stadium.
