43 million euros – focus is on training job seekers

This year, the Vorarlberg Labor Market Service is pumping 43 million euros into measures to find jobs for unemployed people. Training and qualification are the key terms.

The weakening economy and shortage of skilled workers – these are the issues faced by those responsible at the Vorarlberg Employment Service (AMS). When developing an efficient program to get people back into employment, numerous factors must be taken into account. For example, the level of training: The proportion of registered unemployed people who have completed compulsory school as their highest level of training is still very high. Last year this proportion was 47.5 percent (4,460 people) and thus above the national average of 44.9 percent. The number of unemployed people in this group rose the most compared to the previous year (+343 or +8.3%). “The demand for personnel from companies in almost all sectors and for all qualification levels remains high. The trend of shifting from low-skilled to higher-skilled jobs was also noticeable in the demand for personnel,” explains AMS country manager Bernhard Bereuter. New tools And that means: qualification measures. “This year it is planned that more than 19,100 people will be included in labor market policy measures in order to further develop the potential of unemployed people and help eliminate the shortage of skilled workers. It is also planned that more than half of the gender-specific funding will be used for women,” Bereuter reports on the plans. Modern tools such as matching with skills, the AMS “JobBarometer” or the “BerufsInfomat” should also be used when finding new jobs. The top priority of the AMS consultants: Prevent long-term unemployment.
