452,000 spectators terrified in 2022: the sequel to this film has a release date

Do you dare to pick up the phone? In 2022, Scott Derickson unveiled his horror thriller “Black Phone”. Given the great success in theaters, Universal and Blulmhouse announced a sequel. We finally have its release date.

In 2022, Scott Derickson, director of the film deemed the creepiest by science, unveiled Black Phone. A horror thriller adapted from the novel by Joe Hill (Stephen King’s son) in which a shy but intelligent 13-year-old boy is kidnapped by a sadistic killer (played by Ethan Hawke) who locks him in a soundproof basement .

When a telephone hanging on the wall, although out of order, begins to ring, the boy will discover that he is in contact with the voices of his captor’s previous victims, determined to help him.

A great success at the box office, the film grossed 160 million internationally for a budget of 18 million and attracted 452,381 spectators to French cinemas. Quickly, Universal and Blumhouse announced a sequel. The studio has just specified the release date for Black Phone 2. The feature film will be released in French theaters on June 25, 2025.

We still don’t know if Scott Derickson will return to directing, but if we are to believe the recent tweet from screenwriter C. Robert Cargill, the latter will be involved in the project in the same way as the author of the short story.

“Me: I will only do a sequel to Black Phone if we have a really great idea.

*Phone ring*

Joe Hill: So I have a really cool idea.

Me and Scott 30 seconds later: So we’re going to make a sequel to Black Phone.”

The story doesn’t say what Joe Hill’s “really great” idea is. The story of previous victims? If this second opus is a success, this sequel could be the start of a whole new horror saga for Blumhouse.

Black Phone is currently available on Netflix.
