Dominique Aegerter is already world champion in the Supersport category three races before the end of the season. In the first of two races on the Indonesian island of Lombok, the man from Bern came fourth when the Finn Niki Tuuli won and can therefore no longer be caught by his last pursuer, Lorenzo Baldassarri.

The starting position for the 32-year-old was already comfortable before the penultimate race weekend. With a 72-point lead over Baldassarri, Aegerter arrived with his Ten Kate Racing Yamaha team. The requirement: Get three points more than the Italian.

Dream season with the title

Aegerter achieved this minimum goal with ease. Baldassarri crashed spectacularly on the second lap, making his already hopeless race to catch up impossible.

For Aegerter, who will be promoted to the Superbike World Championship in 2023, it is a season of records. No one before him had 15 wins and 17 podiums. Aegerter recently also celebrated overall victory in the MotoE class.
