  • Lausanne deservedly wins game 4 in the playoff final against the ZSC Lions at home with 5:2.
  • The home team only has to tremble briefly after the goal in the middle third.
  • This means the final series is even again, the score is 2:2.

In the second third there was suddenly fire in the game. First, Rudolfs Balcers shortened the score to 1:2 from the perspective of the ZSC Lions (32′). But just two minutes later, the home team restored their two-goal lead. Tim Bozon caught Simon Hrubec in the near corner, who didn’t look too good.

But with their first goal the ZSC Lions had arrived in the game. Zurich were looking for 2:3. Sven Andrighetto hit the post (36th). And they had a golden opportunity to catch up again in the middle third. Two Lausanne players went to the penalty box – but with double the advantage, the guests were unable to score. And after Denis Hollenstein also went to the penalty box at 5 against 4, this chance was lost again.

Power play leads to success

In the final third it was the people of Lausanne who were able to celebrate again. After a 2+2 minute penalty against Denis Malgin, the former Lausanne player had hit his opponent in the face with his stick, Jiri Sekac secured the preliminary decision with a 4-1 score (51′).

Although Hollenstein scored two minutes before the end to make it 2:4, the hope of a miraculous turnaround was nipped in the bud when Cody Almond made it 5:2 shortly before the end.

Lausanne strong at the start

By the halfway point, Lausanne had dominated the game and was deservedly two lengths in front. Andrea Glauser opened the score in the 14th minute. After a well-played counterattack, he was able to net from a central position.

And in the 25th minute Lausanne doubled. Robin Kovacs made it 2-0 from a tight angle. The Lausanne team had been the superior team up until then and didn’t allow much at the back. The victory was deserved over the entire 60 minutes.

Game 5 in the playoff final will take place on Thursday in Zurich. Whoever wins will earn their first championship pucks.
