St. Gallen has had a difficult time abroad so far this season. Without winning in six attempts, the Eastern Swiss began the long journey to Western Switzerland. Good for coach Peter Zeidler that he was able to field a local player in Isaac Schmidt. It was the Lausanne-born full-back who was supposed to initiate the St. Gallen turnaround. Immediately after the start of the second half, the 23-year-old was served by teammate Bastien Thoma in front of the opponent’s penalty area. Schmidt took a direct shot at full speed and smashed the ball beautifully into the top corner to equalize 2-2.

Things got even better for the people of Eastern Switzerland. In the 54th minute, the guests were awarded a penalty after a handball by Lausanne’s Romain Bayard. Willem Geubbels took responsibility and scored safely. Just three minutes later the ball landed in the Ouchy goal again. After a corner, Lavdrim Hajrulahu unfortunately directed the ball into his own goal to make it 2:4.

After the triple strike within 9 minutes, mass was said on the Lausanne Pontaise. In the 85th minute, Albin Krasniqi finally put the lid on the game with his debut goal in the Super League. Thanks to the first away win this season, “Green-White” remains in close contact with leader YB, while Ouchy also received a pack in the second duel with St. Gallen.

Mulaj brace before halftime

St. Gallen put their stamp on the game early on. In the 16th minute, the Zeidler team was rewarded for their attacking efforts. Chadrac Akolo scored with a goal to take the deserved lead.

When the guests took their foot off the accelerator after half an hour, Ouchy resolutely punished them. With a brace from Liridon Mulaj (35th/43rd), Ouchy turned the game almost out of nowhere. Thanks to the attack after the break, this slackening became a side note when reviewing the game.

This is how it continues

Next weekend St. Gallen can play at home again. On Saturday at 6 p.m. the Eastern Swiss will host FC Winterthur. The next day, Lausanne-Ouchy is a guest at table neighbors GC.
