5 great tips for making excellent homemade orange juice: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

It is recommended to consume whole fruits rather than in a hurry to get the maximum benefit from their energy intake. But from time to time, a good glass of orange juice in the morning to accompany your breakfast, it feels good. As long as you don't abuse it. Exit the bricks and bottles that are found in the trade. What if for a change you pressed it yourself, at home? To do this, and especially to concoct a pitcher with a lot of taste, we offer you some tips and recipes to try absolutely. Let's go ?

Squeeze an orange by hand

The easiest way to make orange juice is still to squeeze it by hand. Problem: sometimes it is difficult to extract all the juice. First of all, roll your orange on the worktop by pressing it lightly with the palm of your hand. You will have an easier time getting the juice out. If you don't have a juicer, grab a fork from your cutlery drawer. After cutting the orange in half, take the fork and stick it in the fruit. Then make movements up and down to release the juice while gently scraping. For the corners, do not hesitate to scrape them with a small circular motion. This way, you will be able to extract more juice than if you had just squeezed the orange by pressing on it with your hands.

Pass the juice through a sieve

When we talk about 100% pure fruit juice, there are two schools: that of pro pulp and that of anti-pulp. If you have children, they are very likely to be second. To remove the pulp from your orange juice once squeezed, simply pass it through a sieve to strain it. This operation will also allow you to remove the seeds that may have escaped your vigilance when you squeezed the juice. You will therefore always have a natural result, without the excess material that may be unpleasant in the mouth for some. Unfortunately, you will lose part of the energy supply of the fruit contained in the pulp.

Do not add sugar

When you squeeze oranges, you tend to want to add water and sugar to your juice. As you would with lemonade. The only thing is, a glass of squeezed orange juice is already the equivalent of 7 lumps of sugar. Just like in a can of coke. If it is natural sugar, consumed in too high a dose, it can have an impact on health. It is therefore not recommended to add it to its juice when preparing it. On the other hand, you can dilute with a little water if, on the contrary, the natural result seems too sweet and you want to soften it.

Do not keep the juice for more than three days

The squeezed orange juice is in its natural state. This means that it should not be stored in the same conditions as that found in the bottle in the supermarket. Once you've extracted your juice, if you've made more than just one glass, consider keeping it cool by following a few important rules. First, always place your juice in an airtight container. As pretty as a pitcher is, it will fail to prevent rapid oxidation. Use reused plastic or glass bottles to keep your squeezed juice cool. Consume it absolutely within 3 days to prevent it turning. After this period, consider that it is no longer good.

Prepare a citrus juice

Winter is the peak citrus season! Take the opportunity to make multivitamin fruit juices by mixing them. By hand, with a juicer, using a juicer or a juice extractor, squeeze your oranges and mix them with lemons or grapefruits to vary the tastes and pleasures. You can also make juices with other fruits such as kiwi or banana for example (to stay in season), just as you would for a smoothie. 100% vitamin result!
