Once you’ve found your perfect makeup routine, you often tend to try less and less. But we want to get out of the make-up routine, so we started looking for new make-up hacks – and we found what we were looking for. We’ll show you five lip liner tricks that you are guaranteed not to know and should definitely try.
5 lip liner tricks that will change your makeup routine forever
1. Press lips together
Press your lips together for the perfect red kissable mouth? We won’t be told twice! We grabbed our favorite red lip liner and got started. For the lip liner hack, simply tighten the lips by pressing them together and thus reduce the lip volume. Then apply the liner and fill in the lip completely with quick movements. Use the lip liner to go lightly between your lips so that it reaches the entire lip.
In the next step, keep the lips pressed together, put the liner aside and pick up the red lipstick. Now use the same technique as with the liner, nicely fill in the lip with the color and et voilà – the perfect red kissable mouth is ready.
The result of the lip liner hack convinced us, but the application could be a bit too difficult, especially for beauty beginners, as the trick requires a good knowledge of your own lip shape.
2. More volume
The Juicy Lips is about playing with two contrasting colors. While the dark color migrates to the edge of the lips, the lighter, warmer color is applied to the center of the lip – this makes it appear visually larger. Choose a dark lip liner of your choice, use it to frame your lips and fill them in so that only the middle is free of the liner. Then you grab a lighter lipstick and apply it as usual – this will blend the liner with the lipstick. What remains is a wonderful result like from a professional.
If you want to intensify the effect a bit, you can also apply a little gloss. You will see that your lips will look a lot more voluminous as a result.
3. Bye bye lip liner
Is a lip liner an absolute must in your beauty routine? Then try something new, just leave the liner off and replace it with a conventional concealer. You will be surprised how great the end result will look.
Simply apply the lipstick color of your choice to your lips – the gaudier the tone, the better the effect. Now grab your concealer and run it over the contour of your lips. Then you take either a make-up sponge or a powder puff and work the concealer into the lip by lightly dabbing until the lipstick color and the concealer are nicely blended together. If you like, you can now emphasize your lip heart with a little highlighter and thus give your make-up look the finishing touch.
4. Change the shape of the mouth thanks to the lip liner trick
We found this hack particularly exciting, because the correct use of the lip liner can change your own mouth shape. To do this, grab some foundation and apply it to the corners of your mouth with the help of a brush or a beauty sponge – this directs the focus more to the center of your lips and is therefore an important step in visually changing the shape. Now you take the lip liner of your choice and draw a slightly upward sloping line in the area of the corner of your mouth. Then you paint the upper contour of your lips as usual.
Then comes the most important part: Draw a kind of semicircle on your lower lip that leaves out the corners of your mouth. Blend the lip liner with your fingers and reapply some foundation to the corners of the mouth – this reinforces the round effect that we want to achieve with the help of the lip liner. Now grab your favorite lipstick, just apply it inside the lip liner and et voilà – your lips will appear immediately rounder.
5. Defined lips
Stars like Rihanna or Karlie Kloss have a particularly pronounced lip heart, which makes the lips look much more defined. If you don’t have a defined lip heart, you don’t have to be sad, because of course we have found a way to make up your lips à la Rihanna. To do this, you take the lip liner of your choice and use it to trace the contour of your lips as usual. But instead of following the natural shape of your lip heart, you paint it a little more sharply.
Now either fill in the lips with the rest of the lip liner or grab a matching lipstick and your kissable mouth à la Rihanna is ready.
