5 things you should never clean with white vinegar

Ecological and economical, white vinegar is the ideal natural product for cleaning the house. But be careful, however, you cannot use it on all surfaces!

Ecological, good for the wallet, white vinegar is the best ally for cleaning your interior. This natural and ultra-effective product can be used in all rooms of the house. However, it is still necessary to take some precautions and apply them only on suitable surfaces. Zoom on the 5 things not to clean with white vinegar!

Use white vinegar on marble, stone or granite surfaces

If these surfaces are known to be resistant, they are in fact fragile and tarnish quickly without proper maintenance. Thus, it is advisable to avoid any product that is too acidic and too pickling, such as white vinegar or lemon juice. The acidity of the vinegar (especially used pure) gradually attacks stone, marble and granite and risks leaving indelible white marks. We advise you touse Marseille soap or black soap to maintain your marble or stone surfaces.

Electronic device screens

It can be tempting to use a spritz of white vinegar to disinfect touch screens on tablets, phones or computers… Bad idea! You risk damaging the components of your screens which could eventually malfunction. Prefer a microfiber cloth for clean and dust your electronic devices.

Waxed furniture

If you clean a piece of furniture waxed with white vinegar, you risk dissolving the wax and then leaving a matte and rough surface. To maintain your waxed furniture, a quick and easy cleaning using a wool or microfiber cloth is more than sufficient. It is also recommended to apply a wax to the wood once or twice a year.

Clean an egg stain with white vinegar

Cleaning an egg stain with white vinegar is a terrible idea. Why ? Because on contact with the egg, white vinegar causes protein enzymes to coagulate. Result: stains will be even more difficult to clean! If you drop an egg on the floor while cooking, it’s best to clean up the mess with liquid soap and hot water. Simple and efficient.

Wooden floors

Generally speaking, it is best toavoid white vinegar on all wooden surfaces. Indeed, the wood absorbs the vinegar, and its acidity damages the finishes of the wood. Thus, avoid this product on solid wood floors as well as on wooden worktops. For these surfaces, use a light mop and maintain them with a product suitable for your type of wood or parquet.
