fun, news, tips … what else?

While the 5th epidemic wave hits France in a dazzling way, the capital sees its incidence rate explode and must close 5 times more classes.

The epidemic of Covid-19 does not stop bouncing: the 5th wave has touched the hexagon in a “dazzling”, In the words of Gabriel Attal, government spokesman. For a week, the contamination rate continues to climb: it is, so to speak, past the simple double in 7 days, reaching the score of over 18,000 new cases daily.

Despite the return of the compulsory mask in schools decreed on November 15, the capital, and all the departments of Ile-de-France, are seeing their contamination rate soar. In 7 days, the number of infected students placed in isolation was multiplied by 10. While no school has yet been closed, the number of closed classes has been multiplied by 5.

This worrying figure is explained by the explosion of cases of contamination, but also by the rigidity of the protocol closing of classes. Remember that the Ministry of National Education has established this system as soon as a case of Covid is identified in primary schools. For middle and high schools, contact case students who are not vaccinated must study remotely for a week, while those with a complete vaccination schedule can continue to come face-to-face.

A new protocol coming to schools?

For the parents of students, these repeated class closures remain very difficult to manage on a daily basis. To remedy this situation, the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, initiated a new health protocol currently in test in 10 departments.

It is therefore in Aisne, Ariège, Côte-d’Or, Landes, Manche, Morbihan, Moselle, Rhône, Val-d’Oise and Var, that this device is tested. . The principle ? As soon as there is a case of Covid, it is about test all students in the class and to isolate only the positive cases, in order to limit the closing of classes. If the Minister of National Education was not very convinced by the idea of this new protocol, he finally complied with the opinion of the Scientific Council which strongly recommended it.

The conclusions of the experiment have not yet been made, but the subject is at the heart of conversations within the Ministry. This Tuesday, November 23, Jean-Michel Blanquer declared to the National Assembly that the protocol could be expanded soon, given the worrying situation.
The fact remains that the extension of this new health protocol involving a extensive screening campaign does not come under National Education, but is subject to the decisions of the laboratories. To be continued…
