50 participants – A horror scenario was rehearsed in Lienz

What to do in the event of a medical emergency with numerous injuries? In order to master this scenario as well as possible and without errors, special task forces were trained on the premises of the Lienz district heating plant. More than 50 participants put their skills to the test.

Large-scale deployment for dozens of Red Cross paramedics, firefighters and emergency doctors in the event of a partial collapse of a roof at the district heating plant in Lienz, with some seriously injured and buried people: This was the terrible scenario of a prescribed exercise as part of a training for special task forces from East Tyrol. The emergency services rehearsed the handling of equipment and materials, the operation of a medical aid station and patient care for a whole range of injured and tricky situations.

Real circumstances simulated
The operations were simulated in real time and under the most realistic possible circumstances, including an alarm from the control center. Members of the Red Cross played the 25 injured children, workers and excavator drivers.

Coveted decree presented
As a reward for their hours of practice, when the work was done, the 20 employees of the Red Cross special task force and the three operations managers received the coveted decree.
