According to City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ), it is still pending whether the candy should also apply to employees in nursing homes, because the budget of 135 million euros for all of Austria would only be enough for 450 euros each. “I think that every employee in care, including the paramedics and everyone who did great things in the health sector during the pandemic, are entitled to the bonus,” says Hacker. But he has no influence on it, the federal government decides on the budget and the distribution.
