500,000 customers already attracted by EDF’s Tempo offer

The number of customers of the Tempo offer, offered by EDF, has more than doubled from 200,000 to 500,000 customers in one year.

THE number of clients of EDF’s Tempo offer increased by 150% in one year, passing from 200000 to 500000reported this Monday RMC. The energy supplier is targeting 5 million contracts out of the 21 million customers who benefit from the regulated tariff (TRV). Regulated electricity prices should also increase further in February, then in August in 2024.

EDF: which regulated tariff option to choose to avoid the 15% price increase in February?

How does the Tempo offer work?

The Tempo offer operates on the basis of the peak hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.) – off-peak hours (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) system. The rates vary depending on the days of the year and times of use: blue days (300 days), white days (43 days) and red days (22 days). The customer benefits, during blue days, from a reduction of 30% on the price of the electricity regulation tariff on the full hours and of 41% on off-peak hours. The reduction passes 10 and 24% for white days. During red days, the price is three times higher during peak hours but remains 16% cheaper during off-peak hours.

Current Tempo customers reduce their electricity consumption by an average of 23% during red days and 95% of them play the game, EDF explained in October 2022.

A family that spends on average 1,500 euros per year on the Base or Peak/Off-peak Hours option could save up to 450 euros thanks to the Tempo offer, the government indicated in autumn 2022.
