The next David Cronenberg
Just two years after Crimes of the Future, David Cronenberg returned to Cannes with The Shrouds with Vincent Cassel and Diane Kruger.
The pitch? Karsh, 50, is a renowned businessman. Inconsolable since the death of his wife, he invents a revolutionary and controversial system, GraveTech, which allows the living to connect to their loved ones in their shrouds. One night, several graves, including that of his wife, are vandalized. Karsh sets out to find the culprits.
This project is inspired by a personal and painful loss for the director, the loss of his wife Carolyn Cronenberg in 2017, lost to a long illness at only 66 years old. “People who know me well will know which parts of the film are autobiographical“, indicated the director in the columns of Première. The film will be released in theaters on September 25, 2024.
The 81-year-old filmmaker finds Vincent Cassel for the 3rd time after Les Promesses de l’ombre in 2007 and A Dangerous Method in 2011. The film will be released nationally on January 22, 2025.
Vincent Cassel as DJ for Netflix
When the intelligence services hire a has-been DJ for an infiltration mission, the result is a Netflix comedy with Vincent Cassel, Laura Felpin and Mister V. After the series Liaison on Apple TV+, Vincent Cassel is going to work for another streaming platform.
Presented as a comedy thriller according to The Hollywood Reporter, this currently untitled film is directed by graphic designer and music video director Bertrand Lagros de Langeron, aka So Me, from the Ed Banger Records label. Vincent Cassel plays Scorpex, a has-been DJ in difficulty who finally seems to have the chance to return to the forefront when an agent from the DGSI intelligence services, played by Laura Felpin, recruits him.
Its goal ? Bring down and arrest Vestax (Mister V), a young DJ booming on the EDM scene who is none other than a rival of Scorpex, who thinks he can regain his place and eliminate his opponent.

A modern version of Orpheus and Eurydice
Vincent Cassel will be in the casting of an Italian musical film, with Caterina Murino, Mariam Battistelli, Valentino Buzza, Rossy de Palma, Fanny Ardant, Erwin Schrott. The film titled The Opera, directed by Davide Livermore and Paolo Gep Cucco, does not yet have a release date. This is a modern version of the famous Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
