A 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit the east coast of the Philippines on Tuesday, according to the USGS Institute of Geophysics, with local authorities warning of aftershocks and possible damage.

The earthquake occurred around 9:00 p.m. local time about 120 kilometers from the island of Catanduanes, off the main island of Luzon, the USGS said.
