6 sustainable products for an environmentally conscious life

Have you always wanted to take a look at the world of online gala editors? With pleasure! Our employees regularly introduce you to their favorite treasures and insider tips, without which they currently cannot live.

Two years ago I took a bold step and went to Ghana all by myself for three months to do social work in a school in a poor environment. Shortly before departure, many of my friends thought I was crazy – as soon as I was back here in familiar surroundings, I can now say for myself that this step was the best of my life so far for me. Better still, I would do it again and again. My trip consisted mostly of excitement, zeal, curiosity and adventure, but of course fear also played a role every now and then.

The time, the country, the culture and the people there changed me and my way of life and way of thinking. I quickly learned to get along with very few things in life, because people really don’t need much to be happy. Health is the number one priority.

Sustainable products that make a big difference

Living plastic-free and sustainability, especially sustainable products, are two important aspects that have shaped me, especially in the household, because plastic was a luxury good in Europe back then, but unfortunately it is now in Africa. The consequences of high consumption can be seen and felt everywhere there. Sustainable products – nonexistent! Not accepting a plastic bag when shopping at the market, for example, is considered more unfriendly and ungrateful. Animals that eat plastic are part of the everyday picture in the country. And seas in which plastic floats are not unusual.

It is up to the Time to rethink your own plastic consumption, especially in the household, and to switch to plastic-free alternatives in the kitchen and bathroom.
You can now get sustainable products for the household very easily, and there is already a great selection in the drugstore. Sustainable fashion is also an exciting topic that is on the rise. Environmental awareness seems to be changing enormously among people at the moment and that is a good thing!
I will tell you below which sustainable products I am particularly enthusiastic about:

Permanent baking foil

In our household, the permanent baking foil is a loyal and best friend and at the same time a beautiful, practical and sustainable product compared to conventional baking paper. Since then, we’ve been saving tons of rubbish in the kitchen and, in the meantime, money too. We use this set. It consists of nine different sizes, so that the right permanent baking foil is always at hand for the grate as well as for the baking sheet, baking pan or toaster.

The best thing about the baking foil: It is reusable, heat-resistant, tear-proof, non-stick coated, individually cut to size, easy to clean and dishwasher-safe. Definitely my absolute favorite when it comes to sustainable products!

Beeswax cloths

We also have a better and, above all, more sustainable product in our household for natural food storage instead of aluminum and cling film, because we have been using this since I returned from Ghana Beeswax cloths. The handmade beeswax cloths are made from natural organic beeswax, organic jojoba oil, natural tree resin and eco-text cotton. The wipes are antibacterial, reusable and washable with cold water and a dollop of detergent.

The set consists of a sustainable product in eight different sizes, so that many different foods and containers can be covered with it without having to resort to plastic. The sustainable product must simply not be put in the microwave and must not cover frozen food or raw meat.

Bamboo kitchen roll

Having a kitchen roll in the household is nothing new. Rolled up on it are numerous leaves that are often used, for example, when wiping up liquid in large quantities. Who does not know this situation?! In such a case, they should be highly absorbent and tear-resistant, but as a rule they are not, so consumption increases and increases until the unsightly stain has finally been removed with the cloths. It’s not sustainable.

Time to stop this consumption with something better and to devote yourself to a sustainable product! We have been using them in our household ever since Bamboo kitchen roll. And I’m pretty happy about that. I can only warmly recommend them to everyone, because the environmentally friendly bamboo towels replace up to a whopping 60! conventional household rolls. But that’s not all, because in comparison they are also more absorbent and tear-resistant than kitchen rolls and are reusable and washable. With this sustainable product you will definitely save money, nerves and space and you will conveniently reduce your waste consumption. You will love it, believe me!

The best: After use and washing, the individual bamboo cloths can be reused for cleaning in the household or for wiping dry the fittings in the kitchen and bathroom. A sustainable product that will last a long time!

Reusable straws

You don’t need them too often, but it’s nice to have them around the house and use them from time to time. We’re talking about straws. They are ideal for a cocktail, milk or protein shake, smoothie or cool drink. Using the plastic straws and then throwing them away is super convenient, but not at all sustainable for the environment.

In order to reduce the high plastic consumption of disposable items such as plastic straws, BPA-free and lead-free and sustainable products such as macaroni pasta or straws made of glass, stainless steel or metal are the better and, above all, more sustainable choice. We use this Glass straws.

The set contains a total of twelve straws, six long and six short. They are reusable, dishwasher safe and can be cleaned quickly and easily with the enclosed cleaning brushes. A good and, above all, sustainable product that is particularly beautifully presented in the glass!

Bamboo toothbrush

There are also a number of sustainable products in our bathroom. One of them is the bamboo toothbrush. These Toothbrushes made of bamboo are in our bathroom cabinet. The sustainable products are made of pure, renewable bamboo wood, vegan, biodegradable and 100 percent BPA-free – therefore, for me, definitely better than conventional plastic toothbrushes. The bristles are optimized with bamboo charcoal, making them pleasantly soft and contributing to the optimal cleaning of the teeth.

The bamboo toothbrushes are super light and ergonomic in the hand. Particularly practical: Thanks to the different animal motifs, everyone knows which toothbrush is theirs.

With the better and sustainable product, you not only do good for the environment, you also save a lot of money in the long run because the toothbrushes look good for a long time.

Washable make-up removal pads

A big, ugly plastic bag with cotton wool pads hung in our bathroom for ages. This is exactly what many of you probably know. Something new, better and, above all, more friendly was needed. Since then I have been reusing and using them for my daily facial cleansing washable make-up removal pads. The pads are super sustainable, made of 70 percent bamboo and 30 percent cotton. The washing bag supplied with this sustainable product is particularly nice, as it also serves as a great storage space and can be attached anywhere.

The sustainable set contains twelve soft make-up removal pads and four peeling pads. The latter are particularly suitable for facial cleansing of stubborn make-up and for removing dead skin cells.

After using the sustainable product, you can easily clean the make-up removal pads in a bag in the washing machine. In this way, you too will clarify your skin in future – thanks to the sustainable product – without producing waste.
