60, 100 or more than 200 euros… Here is the increase in your electricity bill according to your profile

10% on average from February 1: here is the increase that the French will experience in the cost of electricity. But not all subscribers are in the same boat.

Last week, the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire announced that the electricity bill would increase on February 1 between 8.6% and 9.8% depending on the contractsin accordance with the government’s commitment to gradually end the tariff shield put in place at the end of 2021.

But not all French people will be impacted in the same way by the increase in the regulated price. The Minister of the Economy detailed the contours of this increase on Sunday January 21. Thus, as noted on the site Capitalsubscribers to the basic option – 10.6 million households subscribe to it – will be the least affected because the average increase will amount to 8.6%, the bill going from 771 euros in 2023 to 837 euros in 2024.

From 54,214 euros depending on your contract and your household

On the other hand, households having opted for the off-peak option will see the bill jump by 9.8%, i.e. 160 euros more over one yearand even 10.1% for subscribers to the EDF Peak Day Erasure (EJP) option.

Bercy services provided various examples highlighting the financial consequences of this increase in prices. Thus, a single person living in a gas-heated apartment will only experience a small increase, of around 54 euros per year. The same profile, heated with electricity, will on the other hand have to face an almost double increase: 100 euros per year. The bill will be relatively the same for a family of 4 people, living in a house and heating with gas (+91 euros between 2023 and 2024). On the other hand, the same family living in a house heated by electricity will see their bill soar, of 2576 euros in 2023 2790 euros in 2024, i.e. a surplus of 214 euros.
