60 hens, an ostrich, seven pigs… a “farm of horror” discovered in the Yvelines

Following an investigation for animal abuse in a property located in Bouafle, in the Yvelines, 67 farm animals, as well as an ostrich, were rescued. Most of them have been placed with foster families.

The facts date back to Saturday April 16. The gendarmes of Ecquevilly intervened to save 60 hens, seven pigs and an ostrich who lived in deplorable conditions.

“What shocked me was to see living beings without access to water and food,” said a volunteer from an animal defense association to our colleagues from Parisian.

On the scene, the investigators will discover several carcasses of hens, a badger, a fox and other animals in a “state of decomposition”.

A surge of solidarity

Faced with the horror of the scene, a chain of solidarity was quickly put in place. The animals were first accommodated in a stud farm near Houdan (Yvelines).

Subsequently, a large part of the animals was placed in foster families. For its part, the ostrich should join a zoo.
