6.37 p.m. on May 31st: The sirens are blaring because there is a fire in the basement of an apartment building in St. Kanzian.
60 emergency personnel from the Stein im Jauntal fire department, the Peratschitzen fire department and the Rückersdorf fire department are on the scene. Several pieces of furniture, power lines, sewage pipes and other objects were damaged in the fire. The heavy smoke also affected all of the residential units in the apartment building, making them uninhabitable for a short time. However, no one was injured. The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire cannot currently be determined. The investigation is being carried out by fire investigators from the State Criminal Police Office.
