The Ministry of City and Housing announced on Tuesday, March 31, measures regarding the safety of homeless people. A budget of 15 million euros in service vouchers has been released to help 60,000 homeless people. In fact, since the start of confinement, people who are homeless have had more difficulty obtaining basic necessities. It is therefore with the newspaper Ouest-France that the Minister of the City and Housing, Julien Denormandie, explained himself about this initiative which will, according to him: "to buy food or basic necessities, health or hygiene, in more than 220,000 outlets."

These service vouchers will be available and therefore managed by various associations such as Secours Catholique, Emmaüs, the Abbé Pierre Foundation or the Red Cross and Secours Populaire. These service checks are estimated at 7 euros per day and per person: "The Abbé-Pierre Foundation and Catholic Relief have launched calls for donations to create their own service vouchers. We will only strengthen their actions, according to their requests. Solidarity must not be a victim of Covid-19" also explains the Minister of the City and Housing to West France.

In terms of accommodation, more than 5,000 hotels have, for example, been made available to the homeless. To date, there are almost a thousand homeless people with Covid-19. All are supported, according to the Minister of the City and Housing, in nearly 40 emergency medical accommodation. In total, there are 164,000 homeless people benefiting from supportive housing.
