Volkswagen is presenting its all-new ID concept today in China. AERO.

For the brand, it is a question of giving a foretaste of the brand’s first fully electric sedan, which will be available worldwide and which gives pride of place… to aerodynamics.

620 km of autonomy for the ID. AERO

After the models ID.3, ID.4 and ID.6, the ID. AERO should be the fourth fully electric model from Volkswagen in China. For the time being presented in the form of a concept, the ID. AERO is almost five meters long and was designed on the basis of aerodynamic principles, with a view to boosting autonomy.

In particular, there is a rearward-sloping roof, coupe-like, to achieve a drag coefficient of 0.23. The classic door handles are replaced by illuminated touch surfaces which also contribute to aerodynamics.

On board, there is a battery with a capacity of 77 kWh, which should allow this ID. AERO to drive 620 km on a single charge, obviously helped by the aerodynamic properties of this new model. Volkswagen is targeting availability for the second half of 2023.

With the ID concept. AERO, we preview the next member of the ID family. A car with an emotional design and at the same time extremely aerodynamic, with a range of more than 600 kilometers, extraordinary roominess and a top-of-the-range interior explains Ralf Brandstätter, CEO of the Volkswagen Group.

The ID. AERO also in Europe and North America

Volkswagen aims to become the leading supplier of zero-emission vehicles in China, and by 2030 it is expected that at least one in two vehicles sold in the country will be an electric vehicle.

Despite a presentation articulated around the Chinese market, as the new flagship model of the ID. family, the ID. AERO will obviously be offered in Europe and North America in addition to China. The European model should also roll off the assembly lines at the Emden plant in 2023.
