After drunk driving and inappropriate behavior during a police check, Berlin Green Party politician Jutta Boden is resigning from her position. The district representative from Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf was stopped by the police early on Saturday morning. During the course of the operation, she gave the Hitler salute, as the “Bild” newspaper reported, citing a police incident report.
Accordingly, the politician was stopped at around 1:40 a.m. on the A115 on the outskirts of Berlin. Because the officers suspected drunk driving, they subjected Boden to a breathalyzer test. According to the report, this showed a blood alcohol level of 1.3 per mille. As a result, the 63-year-old had to leave her car in Dreilinden in Brandenburg and sit in the police car.
The situation then escalated – according to the report, the politician gave the Hitler salute twice. She is said to have said the words “Heil Hitler”. Boden initially denied the incident to “Bild”, saying she just wanted to point out that she felt she was being treated unfairly. However, just a short time later she admitted her “inappropriate” behavior in an email, the newspaper reported.
Accordingly, Boden apologized for both the drunken driving and for her “wrong reaction during a police stop.” In order to take responsibility for her actions, “I am resigning from my mandate as district councilor,” she wrote.
Boden was part of the district council of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf between 2012 and 2016 and since 2019. According to “Bild”, she is now being investigated for drunk driving and for using unconstitutional license plates.
