The trailer for “Darkness of Man”, the new action film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, has been revealed. After Mel Gibson, Steven Seagal and Bruce Willis, director James Cullen Bressack therefore offers the services of JCVD.
Jean-Claude Van Damme back in action man! After starring opposite Alban Ivanov in the Netflix action comedy The Last Mercenary (2021) and meeting Kev Adams on the set of Prime Video’s Haters (2021), the 63-year-old actor is back in action.
In Darkness of Man, the legendary Belgian actor plays Russell Hatch, a former Interpol agent with a tumultuous past. The latter will have to return to service when a turf war breaks out and Jayden, a young man he was responsible for protecting, is kidnapped. Ready to keep his promise, Hatch embarks on a guerrilla war to find Jayden. A pitch worthy of a new Taken opus…
A director accustomed to the genre
The feature film also stars Emerson Min, Kristanna Loken, Andrey Ivchenko, Shannen Doherty, Peter Jae and Spencer Breslin. The action film is directed by a veteran of the genre, James Cullen Bressack, already working on B-series action films: Hot Seat with Mel Gibson and Kevin Dillon, Fortress with Bruce Willis and Chad Michael Murray and Beyond the Law with Steven Seagal.
No release date in France has been announced for Darkness of Man, which will be released on VOD in the United States on May 21.
JCVD projects
Jean Claude Van Damme should then appear in the cast of Kickboxer: Armageddon, a remake of the cult film Kickboxer released in 1989. He will then reunite with David Charhon, the director of The Last Mercenary, for the action comedy The Gardener in which he will share the poster with Michaël Youn, Nawell Madani and Kaaris (available soon on Prime Video).
Although he is touring less, contrary to what he announced in February 2022, Jean-Claude Van Damme does not seem ready to retire completely.
