6th game without defeat in a row – Winterthur punished Kamenovic-Rot ice cold – 2-1 win – Sport

Dimitrije Kamenovic will not soon forget his second appearance in the Super League. The Serbian defender, who recently joined Yverdon on loan from Lazio, played a role in all three goals on the Schützenwiese. Two out of three times he cut an unhappy, if not bad figure. The logical consequence: Winterthur won 2-1.

The decisive scene of the game took place in the 67th minute. After a long ball from Randy Schneider, Sayfallah Ltaief raced away on the right side of the Winterthur attack. Kamenovic resorted to rustic means and stopped the Tunisian with a foul. Referee Sandro Schärer initially only issued a yellow card, but reversed his decision after a VAR intervention and drew a red card: Ltaief had flicked the ball past so cleverly that he could probably have attacked goalie Paul Bernardoni on his own.

Zuffi circles the ball into the net

The free kick for Winterthur promptly landed in the goal to make it 2-1. Luca Zuffi hit the ball inwards, Remo Arnold no longer touched it. Spicy: Zuffi couldn’t have complained about being sent off after a foul, but Schärer missed the second yellow card.

Winterthur almost increased their lead afterwards, but Ltaief’s hammer into the corner in the 77th minute didn’t count – the action was preceded by an offside.

Kamenovic deflects into his own goal

But back to Kamenovic: When Boubacar Fofana made it 1-0 – who scored for the third time in a row in the Super League – the Serb deflected the ball decisively (20th). When the stronger Vaudois equalized 1-1 after the break, he seemed to erase the flaw with the impressive cross to Aymen Mahious – until Ltaief ignited the turbo a quarter of an hour later.

Thanks to its sixth game without defeat in all competitions, Winterthur is closing in on sixth-ranked Lucerne in terms of points and is still on a high after reaching the cup semi-finals during the week. Yverdon, on the other hand, only has one point in reserve for Barrage place after their third defeat in a row.

This is how it continues

Winterthur will compete again on the Schützenwiese next Saturday when GC is a guest in the canton derby. Yverdon will also face FCZ at home on Saturday.
