7 million admissions: 10 years later, these 2 successful films are back in theaters


After Asterix & Obélix – the Middle Kingdom by Guillaume Canet and the release of the film Asterix & Obélix: Mission Cleopatra by Alain Chabat in 2023, the films of Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy will soon return to cinemas.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Asterix – The Domain of the Gods by Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy, SND is releasing the animated film and its sequel entitled The Secret of the Magic Potion (2018) in cinemas.

The two feature films will be released in our cinemas on February 7, 2024 and will be visible throughout the winter holidays, i.e. until March 11.

After Asterix & Obélix – the Middle Kingdom by Guillaume Canet and the re-release of the film Asterix & Obélix: Mission Cleopatra by Alain Chabat in 2023, for the 20th anniversary of the film, it is therefore the turn of the two animated successes dedicated to little Gaul to find his way back to the rooms.

Released in November 2014, Asterix – The domain of the Gods brought more than 3 million spectators to French theaters, while The Secret of the Magic Potionreleased in December 2018, totaled 3.96 million admissions in France.

If The Domain of the Gods is the animated adaptation of the 17th comic strip of the adventures of Asterix and Obélix by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, The Secret of the Magic Potion for its part is an original screenplay written by Alexandre Astier in collaboration with Louis Clichy.

Enough to wait until the broadcast of the animated series Le Combat des Chefs d’Alain Chabatwhich will be available on Netflix in the first half of 2025 and will keep fans waiting forAlexandre Astier who are impatient at the idea of ​​seeing the sequel to Kaamelott in the cinema.

For the record, a new animated film dedicated to the famous Gallic duo is currently being written by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte (The First Name, The Count of Monte Cristo). The film produced by SND will be directed by Alexandre Heboyan. Alexandre Astier and Louis Clichy will not be involved.

So prepare your helmets, your sayons and your potion bottles and go to your cinemas from February 7 to rediscover the film and why not introduce it to your children for the first time at the cinema.
