7 things I learned during Corona

1. Make up, make hair? – Not today

Corona completely turned my morning routine upside down. Instead of swinging my make-up brush and getting my hair in shape after getting up, I'm happy when I brushed my teeth up to the video confi and put on something other than my pajamas. Well, at least upstairs. The colleagues obviously do the same. And so for the first time we sit face-to-face and a bit worn-out and discuss in half pajamas what moves us, what we write about and what else is on the agenda. This in turn creates a whole new closeness and eye level. Because it doesn't matter how we look, it is more important how we feel. And if I don't feel like top styling, I'll just leave it in the future, even in the office. Because it feels really good to drop the masks.

2. I can't jog in my home office

It's fine, but it also does something to me. While some love the gammel look and hang out on the couch with a laptop all day in the jogging shop, I somehow don't get into the potties unless I put on sensible clothes at least during the morning and sit down at the table to work. Therefore dear colleagues: Without make-up, I definitely turn up in the editorial office, but definitely not without make-up AND in joggers.

3. Too much TV and tablet? Just look over it

While I work, I have to school my big daughter and tease the little one. If you have the same station wagon at home, you know that it's not even fun. Our media time has therefore multiplied, as has the chaos in the children's room. At the beginning, I still felt guilty about it. Meanwhile, I think: take it easy, look over it and lean back from time to time instead of fighting a new conflict again. There are other times too and my children are not being assimilated by the tablet. Fortunately, neither do I.

4. Endure sometimes – yourself

Not so easy if you are not used to boredom. But you can learn it again, I learned. Just breathe a little more, write a diary, podcast or listen to music, read, sit around and stare into the air. To be alone, just to be with me, I can not really do that well. So I practice that. A little bit every day. It was difficult at the beginning, but it is good in the end.

5. Who is really important and who could become important

It's funny, but Corona flushed some people out of my life and brought back in others I haven't spoken in for ages. But when the days and evenings are getting long and there is not much to tell in your small haze, it is all the better to call old contacts or to deepen those that you have not had before. If you basically don't have so much to say and who may not be as important as you thought, you will notice exactly who really and what really matters.

6. Free yourself from everything superfluous

Mucking out, cleaning, sorting, throwing away, donating: Really separate yourself from everything that, according to Mari Kondo, doesn't make you happy, has no use, has already been cleared from A to B ten times and what you really don't need or use. That may not always be fun in between, but afterwards it feels really good! Incidentally, this also applies to useless thoughts and habits. Getting rid of them usually takes longer, but you can now make a good start.

7. Start new projects instead of waiting

Finally do something that you really want to do. Founding a company, training yourself, learning a new language, growing a green thumb or trying out or reviving another hobby that you have always wanted to try (again). Now is a really good time for it. And hey, all my plants are still alive – YES !!!
