fun, news, tips… what else?

On Thursday, September 8, 70 primary school students from the Louis Blanc school in the 10th arrondissement of Paris were victims of staphylococcus aureus food poisoning.

Crisis meeting at the Louis Blanc school in the 10th arrondissement of Paris this Friday, September 30: the parents ask for assurances on hygiene in the canteen and a strict protocol in the event of an accident within the premises of the establishment. And for good reason: 70 kindergarten and primary pupils with vomiting after lunch were poisoned on Thursday, September 8. Four adult supervisors were also infected. After analysis, the borough hall indicated on Friday, September 23 that traces of staphylococcus aureus had been found in the dishes.

A starter of tuna and sardines, served that day in the school canteen, caused problems due to “mishandling”. The town hall added that it would be a human error when making the entrance to the kitchens of the school. The school was then unable to cope with the wave of sick children and the emergency services had to intervene in a somewhat chaotic manner. “We ask for assurances on strict respect for hygiene but also the implementation of a real protocol that allows the school to cope in the event of an emergency.”, testified a father in Le Parisien *.

Parents ask for a real emergency protocol

On D-Day in the school, panic reigned and it was obvious that the educational teams had not been trained in the management of this type of event. In addition to the care of the students, the crisis communication was clearly not there for the parents. “It was very complicated to obtain information on the state of health of the little ones”, added this same dad. Then he also added: “We need a real emergency protocol!”.

In a letter addressed to parents of students, the town hall of the 10th arrondissement explained that the analysis work had to continue with the regional health agency before the canteen kitchen could reopen. In the meantime, the children attending the Louis Blanc school eat meals prepared by other canteens.
