71-year-old injured – escaped calf falls on farmer in East Tyrol

An escaped calf slipped on an alpine meadow in Ausservillgraten in East Tyrol on Thursday and fell on the 71-year-old farmer. The farmer suffered a fracture of the lower leg and was rescued by the Sillian mountain rescue service.

The farmer first brought his young cattle to the alpine meadow. In doing so, however, the calf moved away from the herd and did not come back. During a search, the 71-year-old finally discovered the animal and wanted to bring it back to the herd. The calf slipped and fell on the man in front.

Taken to the hospital
The farmer received first aid and rescue from the mountain rescue service. He was then taken to the Lienz district hospital with the ambulance.
