The fire brigades in Vorarlberg’s Großwalsertal had anything but a quiet Sunday evening. At around 6:15 p.m., the Florianis from Blons, Ludesch, Sonntag and Raggal were alerted to a fire in a wood chip drying plant.
Early Sunday evening it was noticed on a farm in Raggal that the wood chip drying plant had caught fire. The alarmed fire brigades from Blons, Ludesch, Sonntag and Raggal, which came with a total of ten fire engines and 75 Florianis, were able to contain the heavy smoke and the fire and prevent it from spreading further. Thanks to the rapid intervention, no people were injured. According to the police, it is not yet possible to estimate the extent of the damage to the wood chip drying system.
