+8 9% in 2024 at AG2R La Mondiale

The joint group AG2R La Mondiale will increase supplementary health contributions by 8 to 9% in 2024, to cope in particular with transfers of expenses from the Social Security budget, indicates the group’s general director in an interview on Friday with Les Echos.

There is no magic money. If health spending increases and the State transfers the burden to supplementary workers, contributions (complementary health insurance, editor’s note) of the French will increase mechanically, indicates the general director, Bruno Angles. We will limit the increase in our contributions from 8 to 9% on average for health insurance, and 5% for welfare, he indicates.

Ag2R La Mondiale is the first complementary health group to give a clear indication of the evolution of its prices in 2024, while the entire sector expects substantial increases. These should range from 8 to 12.5%, according to estimates a few weeks ago from the specialist Addactis. The increase is explained both by the current strong growth in health spending by the French, and also by transfers of costs from Health Insurance.

We cannot continue to do without the cost of health spending.

The State has just transferred 500 million euros of additional dental expenses per year to supplementary health insurance, by reducing the reimbursement of dental expenses by Health Insurance to 60%, compared to 70% previously. In total, supplementary health spending is expected to increase by 1.5 billion euros in 2024, out of a total budget of around thirty billion euros.

In his interview with Echoes, the general director of AG2R La Mondiale calls on the State for greater collaboration between health insurance and supplementary health insurance to manage to contain the increase in health spending. We cannot continue to ignore health spending, he says. For example, there is room for maneuver in the hospital, but also in terms of prevention.
