The feature film’s soundtrack was thus a commercial success, being certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The drama, written by Scott Silver and directed by Curtis Hanson, is known to contain autobiographical elements from Eminem’s life. Thus, the film’s title refers to the 8 Mile Road, the highway between the predominantly African-American city of Detroit and its largely white northern suburbs in which Eminem lived.
