Each year, they are back and sow panic in schools: LICE! But how do we get rid of it without using products that attack the scalp of our dear blond heads? Here are 8 grandma's tips to try urgently!
1. Olive oil or coconut oil
Do you dream of killing lice by suffocating them in their sleep? This is what you can hope for by using olive or coconut vegetable oil. To do this, apply the oil to your child's hair like a hair mask, then wrap it in a towel or cap for the rest of the night. In the morning, comb them thoroughly with an anti-lice comb, then wash the hair with a mild shampoo. Repeat the operation if necessary. The advantage of the oils is that they can be used in babies from the age of 6 months without risk to their health. It is also the most gentle technique on the scalp, and it has proven its effectiveness in our mothers!
2. Lavender essential oil
The various essential oils of lavender are a good ally in prevention, when an epidemic breaks out at school. Make a mixture of essential oil of fine lavender and super lavender (from 3 years old) and add to it lavender aspic (from 6 years old). The mixture is rubbed into dry hair in the morning, and applied behind the ears and the back of the neck in a few drops.
3. The essential oil of tea tree
Widely used in the beauty world to cleanse the skin, tea tree essential oil is also a good remedy against lice. Be careful to dilute a teaspoon of essential oil in 4 teaspoons of olive oil. Apply for 15 minutes, then use the anti-lice comb. Rinse the hair well with a mild shampoo. Tea tree essential oil should not be used before the age of 6.
4. Garlic
In your kitchen, you will find a new natural ally against lice with garlic, an ingredient very present in grandmother's recipes! Garlic doesn't just keep vampires away: it suffocates and kills lice and nits. To do this, just crush 10 cloves of garlic and mix them with 3 teaspoons of lemon juice. Then apply the mixture for 30 minutes on the scalp, then comb through and wash the hair. Repeat if necessary. A method not to be used for 3 years.
5. Onion
Just as glamorous as garlic, onion is a great lice remedy thanks to the sulfur it contains. To do this, mash an onion in a bowl before extracting the juice. Massage the entire scalp, stretching to the ends. Leave on for a few hours, comb through then shampoo thoroughly. To be renewed the following two days. A method not to be used for 3 years.
6. Mayonnaise
Mayonnaise, which is extremely fatty, can also suffocate lice and nits. You have to put up with the smell and be prepared to "struggle" to clean your children's hair. The good thing is that the mayonnaise takes 2 hours to work. Use from the age of 3, provided the child is not allergic to eggs.
7. Vinegar
Vinegar is a superhero: it sanitizes laundry, makes hair shine, and kills lice and nits. The principle is simple: add half of white vinegar to half of water. Wash the hair with the mixture, then leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with plenty of hot water (lice don't like temperature variations). You can then do a regular shampoo. Note that the technique is not recommended if your child is scratching a lot and has an irritated scalp.

Other natural solutions
If you are not a DIY enthusiast, try this specific treatment: Puressentiel anti-lice lotion combined with organic Pouxdoux shampoo. The lotion contains vegetable oils of coconut, calophyllum, jojoba, sunflower, sweet almond and castor bean to eliminate lice, larvae and nits.
