fun, news, tips … what else?

The high cost of living and the health crisis got the better of Parisian executives who are still as many wanting to move according to a recent study by Cadremploi.

Desires for a change of scenery. Each year, more than eight out of ten Parisian executives wish to leave the capital. For this ninth edition of the Cadremploi study on the favorite cities of Parisian executives, unveiled on August 26, the trend remains the same as last year. This year 82% of those polled say they are in favor of a move. A slight increase due to the various confinements experienced over the past two years. For this new edition of the study, 2,068 people were interviewed online between July 19 and 22, 2021.

While some have already taken the plunge and established themselves in other cities in France, others are still reluctant to embark on this new stage. However, there are plenty of reasons for wanting a change of scenery: moving to a quieter, cheaper city with better weather. In total, 52% of respondents are dissatisfied with their current life in the capital. Among these respondents, 69% plan to move within three years and 33% indicate actively seeking a position in another city or have already requested a transfer.

Bordeaux, Nantes and Lyon at the top of the ranking

In the top trio of dream cities, we find: Bordeaux (48.7%), Nantes (40.9%) and Lyon (30.1%). For Élodie Franco Da Cruz, head of studies at Cadremploi, “These cities constitute dynamic employment pools while offering a pleasant living environment, so sought after by Parisians”. For the rest of the ranking, we find in order: Aix-Marseille, Montpellier, Toulouse, Rennes, Nice, Tours and finally Lille which closes this Top 10.

Some respondents say they are ready to move to medium-sized cities (22%), small towns (15%) or even abandon everything to go to the countryside (13%). It remains to be seen whether this will not increase the property prices of the cities mentioned in the ranking, as has already been the case for certain provincial cities.
