8-year-old student kicked out of school after confessing crush on another girl

In the United States, a child aged only 8 was kicked out of her Christian school after confessing to one of her classmates that she had a crush on her.

It all started when Chloe Shelton, a sophomore at Rejoice Christian School in Owasso, Oklahoma, US, told a classmate that she had a crush on her. Immediately, the little girl was sent to the school principal's office where she spent several hours. "Before I even called, the vice-principal told Chloe that the Bible says women can only have children with a man. (The deputy principal) asked me what I think about girls who like girls and I told him I don't see any problem. "the little girl's mom, Delanie Shelton, explained to CNN.

The next day, the school put "end of his partnership" with the Shelton family, also deporting Chloe's 5-year-old little brother. Superintendent Joel Pepin refused to speak with the mother of the children.

Expelled for "sexual immorality"

The school textbook states that "any form of sexual immorality" goes against his beliefs, including "say to be homosexual / bisexual ". Students who are not "in accordance with the standards and ideals of work and life " of school lose the privilege of studying there. Pregnancy is also a reason for expulsion so that the student stays at home so as not to encourage other students to follow her "bad example ".

Children are also not allowed to have public displays of affection such as holding hands, hugging or kissing.

Delanie Shelton hadn't really read the manual and was unaware that her daughter had declared her affection for one of her comrades. "It wasn't a relationship, nor a practice, just a crush. For an 8-year-old, that could just mean that she really enjoys playing in the playground with her. ", she assured.

A wave of support across the world

Kylie Holden, 26, a former school student, identifies as bisexual and has been particularly touched by Chloe's story. "These are the kinds of harmful things you find yourself having to deal with for the rest of your life. " she explained.

The young woman shared the little girl's story on Facebook which moved many people across the United States and around the world. Many then sent money to support the Shelton family as well as gifts and cards to cheer up little Chloe. "I don't want her to grow up thinking that she isn't useful, because then that isn't true. ", said Kylie Holden.

These demonstrations of support made heartwarming to the little girl who is now eager to start a new life at a new school.
