80-year-old trees – vandals sawed down eleven beech trees with a chainsaw

In neighboring Switzerland (Rapperswil-Jona), previously unknown people went on a rampage on Friday evening and unceremoniously sawed down eleven beech trees that were on a private road. The material damage is likely to amount to several thousand euros.

The beeches were cut down in a rather amateur manner, writes the St. Gallen cantonal police. According to initial findings, a chainsaw may have been used. The remaining wood was then left on site. The felled beech trees were privately owned and some were around 80 years old. The material damage is correspondingly high, estimated at several thousand euros. The police are looking for witnesses.
