During the night, Russia attacked Ukraine with dozens of combat drones. The authorities are calling it one of the heaviest attacks since the war began. The Ukrainian military, meanwhile, claims to have fired on a Russian weapons depot.
The Russian military attacked targets in the Ukrainian capital Kiev and other parts of the country with dozens of combat drones during the night. “In two waves, over 40 enemy drones were shot down over the Kiev area and on the outskirts of the capital,” the Kiev military administration said on Telegram.
Not a single drone reached its target in the capital. The authority described the attack as one of the strongest on Ukraine during the entire war. In total, the city of three million was under air raid warning for eight hours during the night. Russian drone attacks were also reported in other regions. Six were shot down over the south-eastern Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk and four more over the Mykolaiv region in the south of the country.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian army deployed a total of 89 combat drones. The air defenses were able to shoot down all of them. In addition to mobile units equipped with machine guns, combat aircraft were also deployed. A Russian Ch-59 cruise missile was also intercepted.
The Ukrainian military says it attacked a warehouse for weapons and other military equipment in the Russian region of Kursk overnight. Kursk borders Ukraine and has been repeatedly the target of Ukrainian shelling.
