9-Euro-Ticket: Practical function in the DB Navigator that you simply have to know

The 9-euro ticket is scheduled to start on June 1st. If you buy it, you can travel by train and public transport throughout Germany at unbeatable prices. But to get everything out, you should know a practical feature of the DB Navigator app.

With the 9-euro ticket, the government has created a way to travel or commute cheaply in Germany. From June 1st, such a monthly ticket will cost 9 euros, which offers a significant saving compared to regular tickets.

9-euro ticket: How to find suitable DB connections

But if you really want to save with the 9-euro ticket, you have to know your way around. This is because only journeys in local transport by Deutsche Bahn are possible. You can’t drive IC, EC, or even ICE. You should take this into account when planning the route for your trip – and that DB Navigator can help you with this.

However, the corresponding function is not easy to find. This is how you succeed despite it:

  • Open the DB Navigator and enter the start and destination of your journey in the search mask.
  • Under the date and time for your trip you will find the preset search options, tap on the symbol.
  • Then select “Options” in the tab at the top.
  • Under “Means of transport” the selection “all” is preset. Tap there and select the option “Only local/regional transport”.

With these settings you are on the safe side and get Only connections are displayed on which the 9-euro ticket is valid as a ticket. If you want to be more precise, you can also select only one special means of transport here, for example if you are looking for a connection with the S-Bahn. By the way: You can of course also use the function in the browser via the DB website. There is also much easier to find directly on the start page.
