It’s official, the popular Gaumont Champs-Elysées Marignan will close its doors on December 3. This is the second cinema to bow out after Bretagne last week.
Sad month of November for cinema lovers. After the Bretagne de Montparnasse, which closed its doors on November 15, it is the turn of the Gaumont Champs-Elysées Marignan to announce the cessation of its activity. These two complexes belonged to the Pathé group.
The legendary Gaumont Champs-Elysées, setting for numerous previews for decades, will therefore bow out on the evening of December 3. It opened its doors in March 1933.
“Pathé has an extremely strong ambition for Paris and is continuing its investments in favor of a renovation of the entire park: recent projects (Pathé Parnasse, opening of a Dolby Cinema room at Pathé Alésia, etc.) and current projects (Pathé Palace, La Géode…) demonstrate this”explains the group in the columns of French movie.
“As part of this premiumization strategy, we are committed to always offering our spectators the best possible experience both in terms of comfort, sound equipment, projection and accessibility (including PMR), but also by offering ever more innovative experiences and services”continues Pathé.
“Unfortunately, the Gaumont Champs-Élysées no longer meets the quality criteria that we want for our spectators, and despite all our efforts and the numerous projects studied for many years with our lessors, no project to bring them up to standard and modernize them. ‘was able to succeed’confides the cinema chain.
The Gaumont Marignan was a complex of six rooms with nearly 1,600 seats. “A real estate program should take over, the building permit being under review”underlines Le Film Français.
