The back-to-school allowance will see its amount increase in 2023. In mid-August, the CAF will pay social assistance of between 398 and 434 euros depending on the age of your child, to nearly 3 million families. The transfer will be automatic.
Back-to-school allowance (ARS) sees its amount increase for the start of the 2023 school year with the revaluation of 1.6% of all social aid on April 1.
The CAF will therefore pay social assistance of between 398 and 434 euros depending on the age of your child for nearly 3 million families: 398.09 euros between 6 and 10 years old; 420.05 euros between 11 and 14 years old and 434.61 euros between 15 and 18 years old. Last year, the amounts were respectively 376.98 euros; 397.78 euros and 411.56 euros.
To benefit from the ARS, you must not exceed a ceiling of resources which has been reassessed for the start of the 2023-2024 school year. The household’s net income must not exceed 25,775 euros for the first child.
Number of children | Resource cap |
---|---|
A child | 25775 euros |
two children | 31723 euros |
three children | 37671 euros |
four children | 43619 euros |
Per additional child | + 5948 euros |
A subtlety for children over 16
THE transfer from the ARS is automatic and will probably be done mid-August. The CAF relies on the information it holds on the composition of your household and your income.
Only nuance: if your child is over 16, school is no longer compulsory at this age, you must connect to your CAF space online (or on the mobile app) to confirm that he is still in school, student or apprentice.
According to Families of France, the cost of back to school 2022-2023 (stationery, supplies, sporting goods) for a student entering 6th grade has exceeded the 200 euro mark. The cost of the start of the 2022 school year amounts to 208.12 euros, an increase of 4.25% compared to the start of the 2021 school year at a cost of 199.64 euros, the association specified last September.
