It is happening in Turkey today runoff for the presidency. The polling stations have been open since 7 a.m. (CEST).
The current incumbent is up for election Recep Tayyip Erdogan from the AKP and his challenger Kemal Kilicdaroğlu by the Kemalist-social-democratic CHP.
A run-off election is necessary because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the votes in the first ballot; Erdogan came up 49.4 percent, Kilicdaroğlu on 44.9 percent.
