The Romanian Bran Castle in Transylvania is attracting visitors with a “different kind of trick”. Bran looks similar to the castle where Count Dracula is said to have once lived. In this medieval castle from the 14th century, tourists are vaccinated against Corona for free.
Staff with stickers of fangs on their white coats offer visitors a free Covid Piks with the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine.
The action is part of a government campaign to encourage more Romanians to get vaccinated. According to surveys, almost half of Romanians do not want to be vaccinated – one of the highest rates of vaccination skeptics in Europe.
Without prior registration for the “vaccination marathon”
The operators of the castle in the Carpathian Mountains announced on Friday that the “vaccination marathon” would take place on weekends in May. Without prior registration, visitors will receive the Biontech / Pfizer vaccination and a vaccination diploma free of charge. Unfortunately, the offer is only valid for Romanian citizens.
The exhibition with 52 medieval instruments of torture can then be visited free of charge. For this torture chamber, the museum emphasizes, there is no compulsory vaccination.
It is believed that the fictional character Dracula was inspired by the bloodthirsty ruler Vlad III. Dracula was inspired by the 15th century. Commonly known as Vlad the Impaler, he went down in history for his brutal rule, torturing and killing tens of thousands of people. Visitors are told that a distinction should be made between Bran Castle and the character in the novel of Count Dracula: “Dracula exists in the imagination.” (kes)
