Ex-President Donald Trump (74) gave himself a voice again with his blog. In January he was blocked from major social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. But the former President of the United States’ blog flops – and is closed after just 29 days.
The blog section on Trump’s website, which was launched in early May, is no longer accessible. Trump’s employee Jason Miller confirmed the change on Wednesday – on Twitter – and indicated that the former US president would soon be active elsewhere on social media again. He did not say anything more precisely.
Emails and SMS for Trump fans
The link to his blog “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” now leads to a page on which users can register for e-mail and SMS notifications from Trump.
As recently as last Sunday, a circular mail to Trump supporters said that the ex-president had made a “courageous return to social media” with the blog area. Now that’s the end of it.
Large platforms adhere to closure
The big platforms Facebook, Twitter and Youtube banned Trump from their pages in January shortly before the end of his term in office. The trigger was the storming of the US Capitol by Trump’s supporters and that he expressed sympathy for the attackers.
In addition, Trump spread for weeks without any evidence that his victory in the presidential election in November had been stolen by fraud. (euc / SDA)
