Annalena Baerbock, Heidi Klum and Lothar Matthäus: The British cult show “Spitting Images” is now also making fun of German stars.

In the 1980s, the British show “Spitting Images” (1984) caricatured politicians like Ronald Reagan (1911-2004) and Margaret Thatcher (1925-2013) with grotesquely exaggerated latex dolls. In the 2020 edition, it was Donald Trump’s turn (75, with a lively hairstyle!) And Boris Johnson (57). “Spitting Image: The Krauts’ Edition”, the first German offshoot of the cult political parody, will start on September 16, 2021 – every Thursday at 8:15 pm on Sky Comedy, Sky Ticket and also on demand.

“Spitting Image”: These prominent “Krauts” are there

Chancellor Angela Merkel (67) and Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp (54) were already in the UK 2020 season and are now also in the “Krauts” offshoot. New are, in line with the federal election on September 26th, the latex doubles of top politicians Armin Laschet (60), Olaf Scholz (63, as blue smurf), Annalena Baerbock (40), Markus Söder (54) and Ursula von der Leyen ( 62).

Also represented are show greats such as Jan Böhmermann (40), Heidi Klum (48), Markus Lanz (52), Jorge González (54), Joko Winterscheidt (42) and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (37), Barbara Schöneberger (47) and Capital Bra (26). From the sports world, fans can look forward to Klopp, Lothar Matthäus (60) and Thomas Müller (32).

In the German-British co-production, however, not only “Krauts” are at the start. The offshoot also shows skits from the original, with, among others, Vladimir Putin (68), Greta Thunberg (18), Elton John (74) as well as Harry (37) and Meghan (40).

You are behind “Spitting Images”

Despite all the exaggeration, the puppets are (for the most part) incredibly well made and the voices are also convincing. For the job, the makers were able to win high-profile voice actors and voice imitators, for example Merkel parodist Antonia von Romatowski (45).

The producers of the first international offshoot of the format had already had a hit with the comedy show “The Martina Hill Show”. The authors wrote gags for Carolin Kebekus (41), Harald Schmidt (64) and the “heute show”. The dolls were handcrafted in Germany and the UK.
