Actually, Zoe S. * was just hoping for another snapshot in her impressive collection of travel pictures on Instagram. The 33-year-old stood on a steep slope high above the river Urt in Belgium. The view was perfect. But the scenery turned out to be fatal for the woman.
The tragedy happened last Tuesday not far from the village of Nadrin: S. stands above the Urt on a rocky ledge, behind her only the river valley and the wide landscape. Her husband Joeri J. * is about to take the photo when he turns around again to check on their dogs, Joy and Ivy. When he wants to devote himself to his wife again, she is no longer there. “It was just gone,” said J. to “Newsflash”.
“You couldn’t hear any screaming”
In a brief moment of inattention, Zoe S. must have lost his step. She fell about 30 meters. “I didn’t see them anywhere anymore and you couldn’t hear any screaming or anything like that,” J. continues. Because he had hardly any cell phone reception in the remote region, he rushed to the next hotel and alerted the rescue workers there.
For S. any help came too late. Only a larger search party, which also included a diving team, finally found her body in the Urt.
Obituary published on Instagram
Traveling together and taking photos were a great passion of Zoe S., Joeri J. explains to the news portal. Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, the couple has been traveling around Europe in a small van. S. documented the impressions on her Instagram profile. There you can also find photos from Switzerland, for example from Alp Sigel in the Appenzell Alpstein region.
Now there will be no more pictures. The last entry is from Thursday November 4th. It is the obituary notice of Zoe S. In it, friends of the deceased are invited to a memorial service for next Tuesday. (cat)
