Mikaela Shiffrin sounds the alarm. The US ski giant suffers from severe back problems and is currently being slowed down in preparation for the next races. Shiffrin speaks to the “AP” about “very strong muscle cramps or some kind of overload”.
Since her victory at the start of the season in Sölden, Shiffrin has hardly been able to ski. As soon as she tries a few turns, it is “very painful,” says the 26-year-old.
“I just have to let it heal now. It won’t take that long if I just take the time, ”assures the 70-time World Cup winner. But it is also frustrating, she admits. “Because at the moment that is the time in which I would normally train all four disciplines.”
Lake Louise questionable for Shiffrin
Shiffrin still doesn’t know whether to skip races. She doesn’t expect it, but wants to listen to her feelings. «The only thing that is really in question for me at the moment is Lake Louise. But I want to start there. “
The first speed races of the season will take place in Canada from December 3rd to 5th. Before that, the slaloms in Levi, Finland (November 20/21) and their home races, the giants and the slalom in Killington (November 27/28) are on the program. The season continues next week with the parallel races in Lech / Zürs (Austria). With Shiffrin?
