New Citroën C5 Aircross: it strengthens its silhouette for 2022

With 260,000 units sold since its launch in 2018, the Citroën C5 Aircross is the third best-selling SUV in France, behind the Dacia Duster; the Peugeot 3008 occupying the first place. But for the success to continue, the time for restyling has come. If, until now, the C5 Aircross was distinguished by a rounded silhouette, in particular at the front end, this 2022 version refines the line to make it more athletic and angular.

A more dynamic front end

Visually wider and more imposing, the C5 Aircross now sports more structured lines with a stepped construction. The chevrons, black and underlined with chrome, are visually stretched by a set of increasingly tight chrome and black piano keys which gradually blend into the daytime lighting. Moreover, the V-shaped LED light signature receives a 3D effect.

Under the grille, the new style of the air intake area widens the front end and gives it a more imposing stance on the road. The side scoops, now open and functional, improve aerodynamics. The ground clearance, however, remains 230 mm and the 360° protections including the Airbumps are still in the game. New 18-inch Pulsar diamond-cut two-tone alloy wheels are available. The rear also has a reworked lighting signature with three LED modules.

A more modern interior

In the cabin, this move upmarket is reflected in a new 10-inch touch pad, compared to 8 previously, which takes place on a central console that has also been redesigned. This tile is now positioned above the vents to avoid having to look down. More ergonomic, the new layout of the controls helps to free up space, at the level of the gear selector, for a large storage compartment which accommodates two USB ports and induction charging.

In addition, this C5 Aircross features the new generation of Citroën Advanced Comfort seats, already present on the C4 and C5 X. They are massaging and heated (optional) and their central part is reinforced with 15 mm of foam. No change however on the side of the trunk, with always a volume between 580 and 720 liters for the thermal versions, and between 460 and 600 liters for the plug-in hybrid version; the variations being due to the bench seat with three separate sliding seats.

Finally, the engines remain identical with two petrol and diesel thermal engines of 130 hp each and a rechargeable hybrid version 225 hp. For the moment, the prices have not yet been revealed.
