A great new show is preparing this Friday, January 21, 2022 on France 3. For its first show of the year, Le grand échiquier saw things big in order to celebrate Molière’s 400th birthday and from 9:20 p.m., the personalities will parade with Claire Chazal who will host the show. Indeed, in order to honor the incredibly rich universe of Molière, the French playwright to whom we owe many plays, many artists will be present to offer unique performances. Jacques Weber, Lambert Wilson, Julien Clerc, Juliette Armanet, Alex Vizorek or even Kerry James will be there to set the mood and celebrate Molière in song, sketch or music.
Eric Ruf, the administrator of the Comédie Française as well as Benjamin Lavernhe, Suliane Brahim and Christian Hecq, members of the Comédie Française, will also be present. This set ofguests all more impressive than each other will allow Claire Chazal to talk about the playwright through different themes and especially with different points of view. Presence and importance of female characters, modern aspect, heritage in French comedy… If some artists have a classical approach to Molière, others may lean more towards reinterpreting his works in order to bring them up to date.

Moreover, some of the guests have already had the opportunity to interpret plays by Molière, as is the case with Lambert Wilson who played in Le Misanthrope. What to have a little insight into the stakes of starring in such classics, knowing that many great French actors have given life to plays by Molière on stage. On the organization side, The grand chessboard of this January 21 will open on the March of the Turks by Jean-Baptiste Lully which will be performed by the Orchester du grand échiquier and conducted by conductor Nicolas Guiraud. In order to mark the occasion and really mix the universes, the hip-hop company Fly or Die will accompany this interpretation.
